Dr Alraqi was born in Oman and won a scholarship to study medicine abroad. He opted to study in Ireland and qualified from University College Dublin in 1993.
He worked in various disciplines in Ireland including General Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Palliative Medicine, Medicine for the Elderly and Paediatrics before specialising in Rheumatology.
He trained in Rheumatology in Ireland through the Specialist Registrar Scheme with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He trained and worked in different hospitals in Ireland including Saint Vincent's University Hospital (as a senior house officer for 1 year, a specialist registrar for 1 year and a Consultant Rheumatologist for 8 years), the Mater Hospital (as a registrar for 1 year and a Consultant Rheumatologist for over 2 years), Dublin, South Infirmary University Hospital Cork, (as a specialist registrar for 1 year), Merlin Park Hospital, Galway (as a specialist registrar for 1 year) and Waterford Regional Hospital (as a specialist registrar for 1 year) and Beaumont Hospital as a Consultant Rheumatologist for 2 years.
In addition, he holds a number of postgraduate diplomas in Medicine, Medicine of the Elderly, Child Health, Healthcare management and a Master degree in Medical Science.
He is a Member of the Irish Society for Rheumatology and the American College of Rheumatology.

Our aim is to provide easy access to Consultant Rheumatologist Care in a timely fashion. This should facilitate reaching an accurate diagnosis so that appropriate treatment can be initiated early.
Arthritis Clinic is run by a Consultant Rheumatologist. The full range of all other Rheumatological services are also provided including on site testing for Gout using in office polarised microscopy and the provision of platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections prepared using the patient own blood in office using a differential centrifuger. In-office ultrasound will be available soon.
